Zangi Owner Is Developing A New African Inspired Eatery In Iowa City
Restaurant Owner Plans To Open New Spot On Gilbert Street This Fall
Plans For Zangi Are Still Underway, But Owner Is Excited To Open This Fall
After opening his Iowa City restaurant Zangi in 2019, owner Chris Diebel decided to open another restaurant. This one will be located on Gilbert Street and is set to open this fall. Diebel said he has been planning for this new restaurant for some time and is excited to finally bring it to life.
The new spot will serve African-inspired food, with a focus on dishes from Nigeria, Ghana, and Senegal. Diebel said he wants to create a menu that is both authentic and accessible to diners of all backgrounds. He is still working on the menu, but he said he plans to offer a variety of dishes, including jollof rice, suya, and fufu.
Diebel said he is excited to open this new restaurant and share his love of African food with the Iowa City community. He said that he believes that food can bring people together and he hopes that his new restaurant will be a place where people can come to enjoy delicious food and connect with others.
