Hockey Canada Sexual Assault Allegations
Ongoing Investigations and Denials
TSN Reports Alleged Gang Assault
A source with access to a video of the alleged gang sexual assault involving Hockey Canada's 2003 world junior team has come forward, according to TSN's reporting. The allegation involves a group sexual assault with over half a dozen individuals. The incident allegedly occurred after a Hockey Canada gala and is separate from an ongoing group sexual assault investigation from the summer of 2003.
Halifax Police Investigations
Halifax police have opened an investigation into a separate group sexual assault allegation. CBC recently reported that Halifax police now have the names of at least two individuals in connection with this case.
Denials from Team Members
Jordin Tootoo is the third member of Canada's 2003 men's world junior hockey team to deny any involvement in the alleged gang assault. Other players, including Carlo Colaiacovo and Cory Pecker, have also denied the allegations.
Multiple Investigations Underway
Police are now investigating two alleged sexual assaults involving members of Hockey Canada's junior team. The ongoing investigations and allegations have raised concerns about the culture within Hockey Canada and the organization's handling of sexual assault cases.
